Many years ago (living in Southern California) my wife and I along with another couple, flew from Carlsbad's Palomar Airport, on many occasions to Las Vegas.
On one weekend flight, we rented a twin Cessna 310-(that had been around awhile). As we flew over the mountains approaching Palm Desert,I heard a pop and the sound of air....
My copilot buddy looked at me with a questionable look, and pointed at his door...
...the door latch had released. (no biggie)The safety latch had it,plus out side air pressure was not going to allow it to open.
Looking out (and down) I saw we were about to pass over Palm Desert airport. As I began my descent the chatter in the back seat suddenly stopped.
( JIM WHAT ARE YOU DOING ???)
"Well dear, I have to make a potty run."
The chatter continued as I descended and proceeded to notify the tower... that I intended to do a touch and go.
Given approval, we sat down
--the door was quickly opened and slammed shut
--throttle to the wall and away we go.
"JIMMMM."
Other than having a little problem starting the starboard engine as we left Vegas, Our weekend was fun, minus a few greenbacks.
Find 'em, See 'em, Fly,'em! And have a great flight!
